I don't have a sanitise
function on my dishwasher.
Can I still get sanitary results?

Dishwasher
  1. If you don't have a Sanitise function, the next best option is to choose the longest, hottest cycle possible – usually one designed for really dirty dishes.

  2. Maximise these hot washes by dropping in household items that are known for harbouring bacteria, such as kids' bath toys, dishcloths, pet toys.

  3. Dishwashers are made to care for most plastics. If your children or pets have toys that could do with a clean, the dishwasher is a great place to start.

  4. Toys that don't like a dishwasher bath include any fabric playthings, dolls with hair, and, of course, anything electronic or battery operated.

  5. Dishwashers certified by the National Sanitation Foundation International are ideal, such as our DishDrawer™ Dishwashers, which eliminate 99.9% of bacteria.

Dishwashers

Part-load

We have become accustomed to keeping a dishwasher partially loaded and switching on when it’s finally full. With a traditional dishwasher there isn’t much else you can do. If you have a Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer Dishwasher, make sure you take advantage of the part-load capability. You can wash smaller loads more frequently for quicker turnaround.

Washing plastics

Plastics don’t carry heat as well as heavier dishware, so they may finish the dry cycle still slightly damp. Washing on the hottest cycle will help to reduce any excess moisture. With very light plastics, such as reusable storage containers, the powerful jets on our DishDrawer Dishwashers may move them during the wash. The upper racks are the perfect place for these items.

Wash Cycles

Heavy

Perfect for pots and pans and bakeware, it washes at 70°C to break down food residue and uses a 65°C rinse to ensure cleanliness.

Delicate

Great for lightly soiled, non-greasy, heat sensitive crockery. It uses a lower temperature main wash at 45°C with a final rinse of 50°C.

Normal

A combination of Heavy and Delicate, and is recommended for standard plates, dishes and cutlery. The main wash is at 55°C with a rinse of 60°C to help with heat absorption for better drying.

Sanitise

A cycle that raises the water temperature during the rinse phase to sanitise dishes, to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria. It is ideal for washing items such as baby bottles, preserving jars and food storage containers.

Extra Dry Modifier

To get the best possible dry performance from plastics we recommend using either the Medium or Heavy wash cycle with the Extra Dry Modifier. In addition opening the door and leaving it opening once the cycle has been further improve results.
